As an agency of the Randolph County Government, the Public Works Department provides services in the following areas:
Engineering
Our Engineering Division provides construction management for the courthouse,
all new construction, planning and renovations of all county buildings and
agencies as well as overseeing all phases of utility projects and other projects
throughout Randolph County.
Solid Waste Facility
The Public Works Department manages
the Randolph County Solid Waste Facility in accordance with North
Carolina State laws pertaining to the transfer station, closed
landfill, land clearing and inert debris, tires and white goods.
Recycling
The purpose of the recycling program of the Public
Works Department is to reduce solid waste production and
disposal by recycling, reusing and re-purchasing. Randolph
County maintains 3 recycling sites as well as 3 convenience
sites that have recycling available; there is also a mulch
program provided. Environmental education is offered to the
Randolph County schools
Convenience Sites/ Illegal Littering
In an effort to protect our environment and provide convenient and
economical disposal facilities, the Public Works Department
operates 3 convenience sites in the county for the collection of
Solid Waste. The county currently has plans to open a new site
in Liberty in the near future, and is also looking for land to
build other sites in the county. A Solid Waste Inspector is
available for citizens to report illegal litter activity and
insure cleanup according to North Carolina State law
