        The Randolph County Zoning Board of Adjustment met at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2003, in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room, Randolph County Office Building, 725 McDowell Road, Asheboro, North Carolina.

  1. Chairman Maxton McDowell called to order the Randolph County Planning Board meeting at 6:30 p.m.
  2. Hal Johnson, Planning Director, called roll of the Members: Maxton McDowell, Chairman, present; Bill Dorsett, Vice Chairman, present; Lynden Craven, present; Phil Ridge, present; Larry Brown, absent; and Chris McLeod, present.
  3. Craven made the motion, seconded by Ridge, to approve the minutes of the August 5, 2003, Randolph County Planning Board meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
  4. Swearing in of the Witnesses:

"Do you swear or affirm that the information you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God."

  1. Request for a Variance:
  1. GLENN POWERS, Bennett, North Carolina, is requesting a variance to allow an 8.97 acre tract to be divided into 3 tracts without state road frontage in lieu of the required minimum lot size of 5 acres on a private road. Powers further requests a variance to allow the residences to be served by a 30' private access easement in lieu of the required 45' private road easement. Location: 6816 Dusty Trail Road; Parcel ID #8634484997; Pleasant Grove Township; Zoning District RA.

Powers said that he wants to divide the property for his children. Powers said that he maintains the road. Powers said that his children’s residences are here now and have been for 20+ years.

There was no opposition to this request.

Craven said that this is for family purposes and made the motion to approve this request. McLeod seconded this motion.

Dorsett asked about the five additional lots that will be in Chatham County using this small single-lane road. Powers said that the five lots in Chatham County already have existing residential structures.

The motion passed unanimously.
