The Randolph County Department of Social Services has five board members: two appointed by the state, two appointed by the county commissioners, and one appointed by the board of social services. They are selected at large from the county and are primarily an advisory body. The board meets every third Wednesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. at the Randolph County Department of Social Services located at 1512 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC.
The
Randolph County Board of Commissioners is involved in
developing, approving and funding the social services budget
and decides what, if any, non-mandated programs or services
will be provided with county funds. A member of the
County Commissioners usually serves as one of their two social
services board appointees.
The
Director of Social Services serves in a dual role of agent
of the
Social
Services Commission and Department
of Health and Human Services, and also as a department
head of county government.
